Why do I need moulage
Moulage is a tool that can be as complicated or subtle as you need. If you need a believable but non-messy scene, there are ways of providing that for you using fake blood pools and injury tattoos. I will work with you to design looks for different scenarios using whatever criteria you have. I believe that providing realistic scenarios for training raises the stress level of first responders to mimic real life situations. This is especially true for cadets who may have never seen a crash or homicide victim before. Subtle makeup, such as slight red marks around the neck, can also be very useful for training all kinds of personnel such as patrol officers and victim services.
Here are some anonymous comments from cadets after scenario role plays with moulage added.
“The enhanced reality provided by the effects helped me better assess and respond to the role-plays. Our training teaches us to visually gather all the info we can before making decisions, and I can’t imagine having to perform in a situation where one of the most important factors at a scene (i.e. injuries and their severity) is left up to my vague understanding of the FTO’s prompt.” – Cadet Moulage Evaluation
“The makeup helped to make the scenarios more real because we were able to better physically identify injuries in a way that we were able to corroborate during investigation. I was able to verify stories with consistent injuries and providing a much more accurate experience.” – Cadet Moulage Evaluation
“When I took the family violence bite call it took some time to realize that the guy had been bitten. He had what looked like dashes on his arm and it wasn’t until I overheard the suspect say something about a bite mark. Others who actually had the make-up took less time identifying the bite.”– Cadet Moulage Evaluation
“The make-up effects were outstanding. I didn’t realize until later that was actually make-up. On the family disturbance call, the make-up was the deciding factor to what actually happened and who was the primary aggressor……..” – Cadet Moulage Evaluation
